Regions Report
This report shows you the top U.S. states and Canadian provinces of visitors to your website in order of popularity. WebSTAT obtains this information from the IP address of the visitor, comparing it to a database of IP addresses that have been allocated to different Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in the United States and Canada. In reality, it is the region of the ISP that is displayed, but, in most cases, this is the same location as your site’s visitors. While this report is mostly accurate, it is not intelligent enough to know when a visitor uses a dialup access number in one state that routes the connection through a data center in another state. Hence a visitor residing in California might display New York in the Region report. This is most common with large nationwide Internet Service Providers like America Online (AOL). Our databases are updated periodically to account for changes in ISP IP allocations.
