A visitor is someone who visits your site. We track visitors using cookies stored in the visitor's web browser, so in reality it is the browser we are tracking, not the actual person. A visitor can visit your website several times in one day and will still be counted as one single visitor for that day.
For most reports, you can choose to view charts by visitors rather than page views. If you have a visual counter, you can also choose to display visitors rather than page views.
