Blocking IP addresses

We currently have two methods for blocking your own visits. Both require that you log into WebSTAT and go to the Tracking Options page.

1. Choose the button labeled "BLOCK" about halfway down the page. This will set a cookie on your browser that will tell WebSTAT to ignore your visits. This method has to be repeated for each specific browser you want blocked. If you ever delete your cookies, you have to reblock your browser.

If the button reads "UNBLOCK" this means that the browser you are using has already been blocked and clicking this button will unblock it.

2. With this method, you can block by IP address. The first thing to do is to determine whether you want to block just one IP address or a range of IP addresses.

If you have a static IP address (it's the same every time), just exclude your IP address. If you have a dynamic IP address (it's different every time), exclude the range. If you have a dial-up or are not sure what you have, you probably have a dynamic IP address and should exclude the range.

Right after the block/unblock button, there is a list of IP addresses to be blocked. If you know your IP address or IP range, enter it in. If not, click the "<_" button next to the IP field. WebSTAT will show you your IP address and ask if you'd like to exclude it or the IP's range. This should automatically detect your IP address or range and enter it in.

If your IP range changes everytime you login, you may have to repeat this step in different IP exclusion fields until you feel like you may have most/all the IP ranges that your ISP assigns out whenever you connect to the internet. This method uses IP addresses and should work until you switch Internet Service Providers.

When you are finished, make sure to update your changes!
