What does the time on page mean?
Everytime a page loads, our code tags are executed and a page view is recorded. After they load the page, we don't know what they do. We know that they leave the current page when they go to another page with your could tags. So the reported time on the page is actually the time between two page loads. Since we do not know when they leave the last page, we write "--" for the time. Between two page loads, they could have:

-looked at the page the whole time
-left their computer or worked on something else
-turned off the computer and later went back to your site
-gone to a different web site or a page that doesn't have the code tags

The only thing we know is that they did not load any more of your pages during this time. So just because we report that they spent a certain amount of time on a web page, doesn't mean they actually looked at it the whole time.
